The seller seemed confused and listed these as crochet kits, and dreadlock accessories. They’re tatting shuttles, which is a form of lace made with a small tatting shuttle or tatting needle. This is a very nice tatting shuttle collection.They’re slightly smaller than my other shuttles, however I’m finding that makes it easier to use them a little faster. The thread winds very easily and the pick is sharp enough to pick up the thread without having to resort to my steel crochet hook.And they come in several colors. I used some to color code my threads so at a glance I know where my greens or my yellows are. But color coding makes them ideal if you’re teaching a class for tatting as well. Each student can have their own color to practice with making it more fun to learn. And unlike the bobbin style shuttles these won’t suddenly scroll out more thread in the middle of your work, making these my favorite style of shuttles.Tatting is a very old method invented by Irish women who couldn’t afford the English lace that was both popular and expensive. So they started making their own using fishing knots with smaller shuttles similar to netting shuttles. And it’s one of the more popular hand lace methods still being enjoyed today.I would recommend these for tatters of any skill level.
